Kwanzaa Celebration
Exceptional African performance troupes, such as The Andrew Cacho African Drummers & Dancers, Inc., join together at the Playhouse to celebrate a rich cultural heritage through dance, drumming, traditional music and storytelling. This is an annual event that has the audience dancing in their seats and responding with joy.
Tickets: $10; $8/seniors & students; $5/ages 5 & under


The Publick Playhouse is committed to making the arts a vital element of the community. Cultural diversity is a hallmark of the theater that attracts audiences from throughout the greater Washington metropolitan area for music and modern dance, musical theater, historic drama, and monthly Saturday Morning at the Movies - Vaudeville Style. The Playhouse presents national and international touring acts and professional touring children's theatre to introduce school groups to the performing arts. The theatre is also a popular venue for area performing arts groups as well as several prominent international tours.


Programming is designed to appeal to all ages, and ticket prices are purposely moderate to encourage everyone's attendance.

REHEARSALS: Cacho African Dance

SEEKING MALE AND FEMALE DANCERS/NON-DANCERS

ANDREW CACHO AFRICAN DRUMMERS & DANCERS, INC.

The mission of the Andrew Cacho African Drummers & Dancers, Inc.’s (ACADD) Program is to provide youth and adults with positive alternatives in their lives. Participants come together to learn about African cultures through dancing, drumming, singing, stilt walking and mask-making in anticipation of mounting a final production.

-Seeking dancers (and non-dancers) to join the dance company and for upcoming performances. ALL are encouraged to come, firm commitment required. We will train. No prior dance experience required. However, it would be helpful to have a positive “can-do” attitude and willingness to move and participate.

Location: Joy of Motion Dance Studio, 13th and H Street NE, Washington, DC (next door to Atlas Theatre)

Time: EVERY THURSDAY 8:30pm - 10pm

Attire: dance wear, t-shirt, loose fitting pants/leggings, fabric/material to wrap the waist
